As you work from home, include the following items in your home office setup to increase your productivity.

10 Essential Things You Need in Your Home Office for Greater Productivity and Efficiency

1. A fully-functional and fast computer

The main tool you need in working remotely is an efficient and stable computer. Make sure you get one with a good processor and enough RAM that’s suitable for the tasks you will perform.

2. A stable internet connection

Online work requires you to be online. Duh! If your connection at home is faulty at best, you need to shop around for a better internet service provider (or at least a better package with more bandwidth).

3. A large monitor

Although 14- and 15-inch laptops or those 17-inch monitors are enough to do the trick, larger-sized monitors, like a 27-inch one, provide less eye strain and better visual output.

4. Ergonomic keyboard and mouse

If you expect to be seated in front of your computer for at least 8 hours a day typing, ergonomic keyboard and mouse can lessen the strain on your hands and provide more comfort on your wrists and fingers as you get your job done.

5. A comfortable chair

Speaking of comfort, get a chair that will allow you to work comfortably and give your back the proper support it needs. This way, backaches don’t get in the way of your work.

6. A work desk that you like

Another important update that you need to do in your work area is to get yourself a nice table that you feel comfortable working in. While functionality is your main concern, we recommend getting a table that you really like since you will be spending most of your days on it.

One thing that you could also consider when looking for the right work desk is to get one that can allow you to work standing up. Studies found that getting work done while standing up reduces health risks related to a sedentary lifestyle.

7. Ample lighting

Since you will be spending a lot of time in your home office, make sure your work area has sufficient lighting. You can add a few lamps around the room or get a residential electrical services professional come in to install additional lighting fixtures.

8. High-definition speakers and microphone

Zoom and other similar online hosting platforms are all the rage ever since the pandemic locked us up in our homes. Invest in high-definition audio peripherals that allow you to clearly hear the discussions and for you to be clearly heard by everyone in the meeting.

9. A high-resolution webcam

While most laptops have decent built-in cameras, we suggest getting a separate webcam that has a higher resolution for a clearer and crisper video feed. You would want to look your absolute best in all of your online meetings, right?

10. Some plants

Lastly, adorn your home office with some greenery. Bring some outdoor elements indoors such as small plants and succulents. It is found that plants have a soothing and calming effect on people. It also helps improve the air quality in your area.
